Arsenite Removal from Aqueous Solution using Mixed Mineral Systems Injected with Iron Sulfide under Sulfidic- Anoxic conditions 1: Reactivity and Removal Kinetics
نویسندگان
چکیده
The reactivity and removal kinetics of arsenite treated with single and mixed mineral systems of kaolinite, montmorillonite and goethite injected with iron sulfide under sulfidicanoxic conditions has been investigated. Using empirical models derived from Freundlich isotherm model, injection of sulfidic-anoxic solution of iron sulfide onto the mixed mineral systems enhanced proton coefficient of all single minerals. Differences in sorption kinetics between the single and mixed mineral phases may be attributed to different types of reactive sites on the single and mixed mineral systems Except for iron sulfide, kinetic studies demonstrated three phase reactions attributed to outer sphere complexation, inner sphere complexation and intra-particle diffusion. Injection of sulfidic-anoxic solution of iron sulfide could not change the three phase reaction trend.

Use of bauxite residue (red mud) as a low cost sorbent for sulfide removal in polluted water remediation.
Sulfide is an important pollutant in aqueous systems. Sulfide removal from polluted waters is required prior to discharge. Red mud (RM) is a solid waste of bauxite processing that is rich in reactive iron oxides and consequently has the potential to be used to remove sulfide from aqueous systems. A series of experiments was undertaken using raw and sintered RM to remove sulfide from waters. RM ...

Abstract Introduction: The Lead causes severe damage to several systems of the body, especially to bony tissues. Until now, several low-cost biosorbents have been studied for removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions. In the present study, carbonized pomegranate peels modified with Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions and then it was investigated for removal of Pb(II) ions from aqueous solution. ...

Formation constants for thioarsenite species have been determined in dilute solutions at 25 uC, SH2S from 10 to 10 M, SAs from 10 to 10 M, and pH 7 and 10. The principal inorganic arsenic species in anoxic aquatic systems are arsenite, As(OH)3 , and a mononuclear thioarsenite with an S/As ratio of 3 : 1. Thioarsenic species with S/As ratios of 1 : 1, 2 : 1, and 4 : 1 are lesser components in su...
